Black Swan
Produced in stylish sepia tones, Aquage National Educator Shawna Parvin uncovers the dark side of beauty, one feather at a time.
Natalie Portman doesn't have anything on this imaginative stylist. Inspired by the movie Black Swan, the top psychological thriller of 2010, Shawna Parvin melds beauty and tension for her Black Swan Story. "I found something so beautiful about that movie...the pain and darkness," Parvin reveals. "I wanted to recreate those emotions for my collection."
2. As for her feathered headdress, it appears that Parvin must have fi rst bagged a black swan. "No way!" she laughs. "I used tiny hair wefts that were secured to a chicken wire frame using duct tape and positioned with Popsicle sticks. The wefts were transformed into realistic-looking feathers by ironing them fl at and applying generous amounts of Aquage Working Spray."
