Princess Irulan and the Queen of Color
Even if you've only got a few drops of sci-fi blood in your veins, you've no doubt remained captivated with Princess Irulan of Dune (1984), played by blonde beauty Virginia Madsen. Since that pivotal role, Madsen has managed to work nearly nonstop in Tinsel Town.
In her recent role as Suzette, the mother in Little Red Riding Hood, Madsen urges her daughter Valerie to marry Alex and, for heaven's sake, stay out of the woods. It was during that movie and subsequent red carpet events that her haircolor caught our attention and launched a beauty investigation!
Who had created Madsen's new-and-improved blonde locks? When we found out that it was none other than Marie Ferro, we were delighted, but not surprised. Ferro is known for her luscious ways with haircolor, as well as her high-profile clientele in posh Malibu, Califoia.
Ferro plies her color trade at Marie's Studio, her airy, gorgeous salon that overlooks Malibu Beach and the Pacific Ocean. She has appeared as a makeover artist on E! Channel's How do I Look? and The Oprah Winfrey show, to name just two of her high-profile gigs.
Even more notable is Ferro's signature “Beauty From the Inside Out," approach to makeovers. Her philosophy: “There's a unique beauty within all of us that yeas to come out and be seen."

“Virginia has a gorgeous smile that illuminates any room she enters. To emphasize this incredible aspect of her beauty, I place foiled highlights around her face, in the direction that she generally wears her hair. To ground these highlighted pieces, I always make sure there's a sufficient amount of base color present to add interest and dimensionality. I then apply the base color between.
