Mane Course
Simplicity Hair Extensions by TressAllure was created to give stylists a highquality hair addition system that dramatically reduces the time needed to complete any extension service. The basic mechanics of application: Part the hair; peel off the paper covering the adhesive; and press into place. “The concepts surrounding these gorgeous hair additions are easily understood, but to create long-lasting applications and more expert designs, you truly need to experience hands-on education,” says Vivienne Mackinder, founder of HairDesignerTV. “This is why Simplicity and I have created three new courses: (1) certifi cation, (2) blending and (3) how to use these extensions to do editorial styles.”
Mackinder relates that she knew she was working with a special hairaddition brand the moment she did her fi rst photo shoot for Simplicity.

“I was blown away at how fast and fabulous these extensions really are,” she smiles. “But what really rocked my world was when our top New York models begged to keep their extensions in after our shoot. In all the years that I’ve done hair for the camera, and all the hair additions that I’ve used to create on-camera styles, that had never happened before.” Simplicity’s new mane attache's— most of whom are members of Mackinder’s hairdressing team—along with Mackinder, will be spreading the gospel according to Simplicity at the ISSE Long Beach Show, America’s Beauty Show in Chicago, and many more locations. “At Long Beach, I’ll be doing a photo shoot on the trade show floor and our team will be giving certification classes to ensure that every stylist who uses Simplicity Hair Extensions is hugely successful with the brand,” notes Mackinder. Simplicity is also offering online certification via Mackinder’s HairDesignerTV.com.

One very important skill that’s emphasized: blending the existing hair design with the one created by hair additions. “If you have a client with a nondescript style, it’s usually much easier to blend in with hair additions,” Mackinder explains. “But when you’re asked to take a geometric bob with strong, blunt perimeter lines to a soft, mid-length style, you’ve got to know how to blend the two opposites in order to create a seamless new design.”
Mackinder also places an emphasis on consultations where many moments of truth are discovered. “In order to be successful with any hair addition brand, you must ascertain where the client is today in terms of her hair and exactly where she wants to be in the future. In some cases, this means interim hair additions. In other cases, it represents an ongoing commitment to your augmentation services. Having an in-depth and truthful consultation with a client is the only way to give her what she truly wants and needs.”
