Age-Bending Color
Aiding and abetting the gray revolution, Matrix SOCOLOR Dream.Age introduced low-ammonia technology in 2010, which delivers 100% gray coverage and prismatic color reflection on even the most color-resistant strands. This revolution continues to gain traction in 2011 with two new shade series: Neutral Gold—DA-507NG and DA-509NG—and Red Brown—DA-504RB and DA-506RB. Equally exciting are two new Dream.Renewel Techniques: Dream Lift, a brightening service with a feature-enhancing cut; and Dream Glow, a warm, complexion-enhancing color design plus a face-framing shape for maximum volume and movement. Gotcha Covered
Scruples True Integrity Opalescent Colour Cre'me eliminates the guesswork and a whole lot of backroom prayers with Conceal Gray Coverage Additive, which is available in two formulas: Conceal Levels 3–6 and Conceal Levels 7–10. Both formulas deposit pigment molecules that are missing in gray hair and must be present in order to create rich and balanced results. (Hint: Mix 0.25 oz Conceal and 0.75 oz True Integrity haircolor for amazing results.) (ScruplesHairCare.com)
Gray Matters
Some old wives’ tales just aren’t true. Personal stress doesn’t cause hair to gray, but cellular stress does, according to a recent study by Emi Nishimura of Tokyo Medical and Dental University. How? DNA is under constant attack by damaging chemicals, ultraviolet light and radiation. “A single cell can encounter up to 100,000 events a day that damage DNA,” Nishimura reveals. “The stem cells within hair follicles that are responsible for color are the most impacted by this irreparable DNA weathering.”
ColorBrush
What a stroke of genius! Patrick McIvor Your Colorist’s Favorite Brush—the first of eight brushes—is negatively charged with Tourmaline Crystal Complex-infused pins to help detangle wet hair and remove excess moisture. When used before glazing, the Complex compacts the cuticle to allow glazes to deliver even, more long-lasting results.
