Featuring 20 international hair teams that always pull out all the stops to thrill their peers, the Alternative Hair Show continues to raise the bar for hair creativity and technical excellence, not to mention probeauty's commitment to worthy charitable events.
Wrapped in pageantry and sumptuous stage presentations, the Alternative Hair Show is actually designed to raise money for blood cancer research.
Tony and Maggie Rizzo—who lost their young son to leukemia in 1983—founded the show 33 years ago and, eventually, the Alternative Hair foundation.
This year alone the Alternative Hair Show raised in excess of $309,000 to help fight blood cancers, including leukemia!
The passion of the participating teams and their loyalty to the Alternative Hair Foundation also deserve our praise.
Entirely financing their own shows--including travel and hotels, costuming and production costs--many of the participating hair teams not only work tirelessly to stage their jaw-dropping, three-minute presentations, but also return each year to continue supporting the cause.
"There are no words I can find to thank these wonderful hairdressers," says Toni Rizzo, Alternative Hair founder. "Their support and generosity never fail to make me feel both eternally grateful and humble."
