POEMA DE AMOR A LA PELUQUERIA
Soy peluquera de nacimiento, por vocación adquirida, estoy agradecida a ella, porque ella me ha enseñado todo o casi todo de la vida. Con ella aprendí a comportarme, a diferenciar las clases sociales, no necesité aprender idiomas para hacerme entender, mis manos hablan por sí solas.
Atendí a gente de la nobleza, artistas, deportistas y sigo atendiendo a la Sra. Más importante de mi salón, la que viene todas las semanas. Todas ellas me han enseñado que soy una vendedora de ilusiones, su sonrisa me lo ha confirmado, su regreso me ha gratificado y de repente me di cuenta que sé hacer magia, cambiando su tristeza, su soledad, su dolor o su rabia, simplemente colocando un flequillo, dando un vuelco a su estilo o cualquier otro trabajo que tantos de vosotros, peluqueros hacéis.
Llevo 38 anos de experiencia, y todavía dudo y no sé si lo hago bien o mal, porque cada uno es peluquero como quiere o como puede, pero lo que yo si sé de mi, es que dentro de mí hay un inmenso y eterno amor por mi profesión.
Cuando empecé tenía 13 años y como todos los idealistas e inconformistas pretendía cambiar el mundo, y el mundo cambió solo, no me llamó. Pero yo cambié mi mundo, trate de hacer de este oficio un arte, EL ARTE DE PEINAR... ¿ y por qué no? ,.
El pintor hace arte, el escultor hace arte y nosotros los PELUQUEROS ¿ no hacemos arte?. Pulir el cabello, convertirte en rizo y doblegarlo, crear formas y dominarlas, dar luz donde no hay y quitarlas cuando sobran, ¿ acaso esto no es arte? . Para mí, Si es un arte, porque voy en ventaja con todos los demás, aparte de esculpir, tallar o doblegar un cabello, hay alguien que através de su mirada, de su sonrisa, va a responderme y entonces me siento una privilegiada en haber sido peluquera por vocación, porque para mi siempre hay respuestas, hay lágrimas o sonrisas; pero al pintor no le hablan sus cuadros, el piano no responde al pianista, al poeta no le contesta su libro.
Por eso quiero dedicarle un poema de amor a la peluquería, porque me dio todo lo que soy, es verdad fue un largo camino, pero yo no necesito idiomas para ir por el mundo, mis manos hablaran de mí, y es verdad ¡ Cuántas alegrías ¡, muchos sinsabores miles de errores, infinitas frustraciones gigantescos valles de lágrimas y también caudales de sonrisas pero al final, me convenció, me enamoré de ella y con ella seguiré hasta el fin de mis días,.
Los más jóvenes, luchen por un ideal, y los menos jóvenes, cuídenla, porque es una pasión y no se debe de apagar.
No importa si peino bien o mal ya a esta altura del camino, pero quería dedicarle un poema a mi oficio, porque nosotros los peluqueros/as somos portadores de magia, vendedores de ilusión y siempre hay alguien en el camino que nos esta esperando para producir el cambio.
Este es un simple poema de amor de una chica de barrio, de una peluquera más, pero que lucha día a día para transformar esta profesión, en el ARTE DE PEINAR.
No olviden que luchar por lo que uno quiere, es un privilegio, yo soy una privilegiada, por esto lo del POEMA DE AMOR A LA PELUQUERÍA; porque ella ha sido el gran amor de mi vida, y es mejor HABER AMADO Y PERDIDO A NO HABER AMADO NUNCA.

POETRY OF LOVE FOR A SALON
I'm a hairstylist from birth by acquired vocation. I'm very grateful to my salon; it has taught me everything or almost everything about life. With it I learned how to behave, distinguish social classes, I didn't need to learn languages to be able to be understood; my hands talk for themselves. I have styled noble people, artists, athletes and I still style the most important customer to my salon, a woman who comes in every week. Every customer has taught me that I'm a seller of illusions, their smiles have confirmed it, their return has gratified me and suddenly I realized that I know how to do magic. I am able to change their sadness, their loneliness, their pain or anger by simply getting a strand of hair and twisting it to their style or to any other work that other stylists do.
I have 38 years of experience and I still doubt if I do it right or not. Each hair stylist does his or her work how they want or how they can, but what I do know about myself is that inside of me there's a huge and eternal love for my profession.
When I started I was 13 years old and like every other idealist and nonconformist, I pretended to change the world, but the world changed by itself and didn't call me. However, I changed my world, I tried to do this job as an art, THE ART OF STYLING...so why not?
The painter paints art, the sculptors sculpt art and us stylists, do we do art? To polish hair, convert it to curls, create different forms and dominate them, give light where there is none, and take them away when there's plenty, isn't that art? To me it is an art, because I have the advantage over everyone else, apart from sculpting and changing hair, through someone's eyes, smile, they respond to me, so I feel privileged in being their stylist by vocation because to me there are answers, tears, smiles; paintings don't speak to their painter, the piano doesn't answer the pianist, books don't talk to their poet.
This is why I want to dedicate to you a poem of love for the salon, because it gave me everything that I am today. It was a long journey but I don't need languages to travel around the world, my hands speak for me, and its true, so much joy, lots of mistakes, infinite frustrations, giant valleys of tears and also an array of smiles, but in the end, it convinced me, I fell in love with it, and with it I will continue till the end of my days.
The younger ones, fight for an ideal, and the less young ones, take care of it because it is a passion that shouldn't be lit out. It doesn't matter if I style good or bad at this point of the journey, but I wanted to dedicate a poem of my career because us stylists are portrayers of magic, sellers of illusion and there is always someone on the way that are waiting for us to make change.
This is a simple poem of love of a neighborhood girl, of another stylist, that day to day fights for professional transformation in the ART OF STYLING.
Don't forget that fighting for what you want is a privilege; I am privileged, and because of it I created the POEM OF LOVE FOR A SALON; it has been the love of my life, and I believe its better to have loved and lost, then not have loved at all.
