Step 1. Create natural lift from the top/crown area down to the top of the occipital by first teasing the hair and then crimping it from the base to the ends.

Step 2. Separate a top/front rectangular section. Roll and pin away.

Step 3. Fashion a side ponytail, making sure that the hair is smooth and free of flyaways.

Step 4. Divide the ponytail into two equal sections.

Step 5. Using a teasing brush, tease one ponytail, concentrating most on the hair underneath the top section.

Step 6. Smooth the top layer by using the side bristles of the teasing brush and very light pressure.

Step 7. Apply two additional clear hair bands as shown.

Step 8. Repeat Steps 5 to 7 on the other ponytail.

Step 9. Addressing the ponytail section closest to the left ear, bend and fold each of the three areas and secure with pins (like the base of a French roll) as you go. Minimize tension to allow the hair to remain full.

Step 10. Repeat Step 9 on the other ponytail, this time folding and pinning the hair in the opposite direction.

Step 11. Finished folds

Step 12. Using a 1" curling iron, firmly curl the top rectangle section.

Step 13. Using styling spray as you go, form and clamp waves. Allow the spray to dry to a firm finish. Use hairpins to secure where needed.
