  Long       HAIRDO     Power Styling

Hair:  Andy Uffels, Philips Haircare Artistic Director  Makeup:  Esther van Maanen  Photo:  Klaas Jan Kliphuis

The rough is made smooth with these power moves. Protect hair with thermal conditioner as you work.

1. Start with the "V"! This look is based upon a V-shaped wedge. Start by blow-drying with a diffuser attachment and a natural bristle
brush, lifting sections away from the face as you dry. Section off the "V" shape from the temples back. The most flattering proportion for you will be a V-shaped wedge which is the width of your head. Section off and pin this section on top of your head.
2. Using a narrow flat-iron and working with inch-widths, straighten all hair except the front V-wedge. Using the natural bristle brush, brush sides straight back and fix into place with working-hold spray or styling gel.
3. Now, unpin the "V" wedge section and straighten it with the flat-iron. Get as close to the scalp as possible. Clamp the iron close to the roots, twist forward and up as you move the iron down to the ends, to create lift and volume.
4. Back-brush the top section lightly at the roots to give the wedge height, and mist roots with holding spray. Carefully brush the hair of the crown over the wedge, without breaking down the volume. Use the iron to straighten any stragglers, then finish with holding spray.

Place the flat iron close to roots for smoothest look.
