Topaz Twists is a colour technique designed to accentuate a curly hairstyle. It adds dimension and highlights in a new and interesting way. Alternating between a lighter and a slightly darker colour adds lots of life to curly hair.
Natural level 5 Formula:
● 7 G with 30 volume
● 5CG with 20 volume
Step 1. Start by placing the hair into a quadrant parting. Working first at the nape, create a section that is approximately 2" high across the entire back. Take a 2"section and apply the lightest colour (7G) on top and feather colour towards the root area, staying away from the actual roots themselves.
Step 2. Apply the darker colour (5CG) on the underneath section, again feathering colour toward the root area. It is important that the brush is lightly coated with colour. A small amount is needed in order to only coat the outside of each section, otherwise there will be too much bleeding of the two colours.
Step 3. Pinch the hair in the middle of the strand and wrap the ends over finger.
Step 4. Wrap hair around and secure into place with a small plastic single prong clip.
Step 5. Continue working with similar size sections alternating the colours from top to bottom, making sure the twists are not too tight.
Step 6. Once the third round of the head is reached, drop the sections down to the second round. This will emphasize the colour through the ends leaving the root area natural.
Step 7. Finish applying in the same manner. There will be four sections around the head in total. Remember to alternate the top and bottom colours when working around the head. Process, remove clips, rinse and shampoo.
