Color diagnosis
Our models natural hair color is a base 6 Dark Blonde.

1-2. Begin by sectioning the hair from ear to ear. Then make a straight horizontal part across the occipital bone to connect with the first parted ear to ear section (Fig.#1). Then create a triangular shaped section at the front hairline going back to the ear to ear parting (Fig.#2).

3. Begin at the back above the occipi. tal bone. Elevate vertical 1/2 inch sections straight out from the head, start at the center and work out to the sides establishing the length guideline (2" past the shoulders).

4. Each subsequent parallel section is over directed to the middle.

5. Continue brining each section back to the middle by over directing. Elevate each section out from the head and stop when you reach the ear.

6. Point cut the ends to soften them.

7. Lift each section and repeat the point cutting until you reach the top section.

8. As you can see in Fig. #8 the top section is left uncut and will not be connected to the sections you have previously cut.

9. Moving onto the side sections pull each section up and out, over direct. ing back to just behind the ear.

10. Repeat this on the opposite side of the head.

11. Release the fringe section but first make a sub.section approx. 2-3" next to the top of the crown and clip it out of the way, it will be cut later.

12. Pull the fringe down and cut a line in with the point of the scissors allowing the length to fall just below the nose.

13. Comb down the remaining section and break into the outline to create texture. The hair is now blow dried and the entire shape is cross checked for attention to detail.

14. The model is now ready for the color application.

15. Clip away the back section above the occipital bone. Create a crown section that takes in one third of the depth of the fringe. The remaining fringe and side areas will be our third section.

16. First divide the back section in half with a vertical parting, then make 1/2 horizontal partings starting at the nape working up to the top, apply the first color in a roots.to.ends technique.

17-18. Place foil over the tinted section to protect the remaining hair from color bleeding.

19. This figure shows the sectioning.

20-21. Move on to the second section and apply the second color using the same technique.

20-21. Move on to the second sec. tion and apply the second color using the same technique.

22-23. Next, move on to the fringe area and apply the third color in a roots.to.ends technique, using foil to help keep the colors separate. 24. The colors are then left to develop according to the manufacturers instructions.

25. Finally the hair is blow dried and the entire cut is cross checked for attention to detail.
