Scissors for Sandy
The fury of Hurricane Sandy wreaked havoc on entire communities in the eastern part of the U.S., including the Jersey Shore and parts of New York. Destroying hundreds of homes and displacing thousands of people, Hurricane Sandy has left many without essentials such as food, water, baby supplies, warm clothes, and more.
Christine Zilinski-owner of Salon Concrete in Red Bank, NJ-in partnership with Procter & Gamble, has created Scissors for Sandy-a nationwide cut-a-thon to provide relief to those who were impacted.
The main event will be held December 10, 2012 from 12:00 noon - 8:00p.m. in the ballroom at the Berkeley Hotel in Asbury Park. Additional salons throughout the U.S. and Canada will participate. Talented stylists will unite to offer haircuts for a minimum $40 donation. They'll also be on hand to collect much needed supplies.
Tickets can be purchased in advance at www.ScissorsforSandy.EventBrite.com. Donations can also be submitted via the link. All proceeds will benefit Hometown Heroes Restore the Shore, an organization that directly supports the people and communities affected by Hurricane Sandy.
"The aftermath of Sandy has been a surreal experience. Many of our longtime friends and clients have lost their homes, but one thing is for sure, they have not lost their spirit," says Christine Zilinski. "I have volunteered in some of the hardest hit communities and we are working together to clean and eventually rebuild our community. This disaster will always be a part of us. I created Scissors for Sandy to help ease the burden of those who are suffering the most."
