Celebrating Color
Color guru Gina Khan was awarded the first ever Intercoiffure Colorist of the Year award at the Intercoiffure Fall Atelier event, which was held recently in New York City. The timing of this prestigious award coincides with another significant milestone-Khan's 25th anniversary as a Logics colorist.
Since 2007, Khan has held the title of creative director for Intercoiffure's Haircolor Council, which serves as a forum to help identify and train the next generation of talented color artists. "Together with Jo Blackwell-Preston, Khan has developed the Council into a training ground where ICA member salons can send their top colorists to hone their skills," says Lois Christie, President, Intercoiffure. "In recognition of Gina's contributions, the Board of Directors has established the Intercoiffure Colorist of the Year Award, which will be presented annually to Intercoiffure members who have consistently combined the highest level of art and technical skill in their work, and who have contributed to raising the level of the profession through education and example."
As a passionate and committed salon owner, expert colorist and educator, Khan accepted the special award with heartfelt gratitude. "My goal as an educator is to offer people information, techniques and insights from my own experiences to make them more successful," says Khan. "I'm grateful to Logics for supporting me in this goal and I'm pleased that Intercoiffure has allowed me to serve on the Color Council where I can play a role in supporting and mentoring the best colorists in the country."
