Choreographing Creativity
A fusion of topnotch choreography skills, creativity and talent is what led Betty Pemberton, owner of Danville, KY-based Impressions The Salon and Spa, and her team to nab the grand prize in Matrix Fashion's Night Out National Event competition. The contest invited applicants to compose an original, creative, show-stopping event. A fashion show and flash mob held at the nearby Centre College is what led Impressions to victory!
Matrix used Fashion's Night Out as a platform to celebrate the debut of its Total Results collection. It also challenged the Spread the Love community (16 salons) to compete for two all-expenses paid trips to New York City and tickets to see a Broadway show.
Founded by Vogue Magazine, Fashion's Night Out is an annual national shopping extravaganza that celebrates beauty and fashion. The Impressions event was just one of hundreds of events that were held simultaneously and nationwide by the elite network of Matrix Spread the Love Salons.
Contest day kicked off with a challenge for the team to style a group of local mentally challenged women for a beauty pageant. The team then got busy creating hairstyles and coordinating wardrobes for five Centre College student models, each representing one of the Total Results collections. The hairstyles represented the theme of each hair range, and the clothing coordinated with the respective packaging colors.
Finally, it was off to the college campus, where the models flaunted their new looks and a troop of dancers entertained the audience. As a grand finale, the models, salon staff, dancers and assorted extras broke out into an energizing flash mob dance routine to a medley of songs as onlookers held up "Total Results" posters.
Impressions' digital guru/stylist Amber Finley, who posted frequent updates on the salon's Facebook page and Tweeted to fans, and another staff member were invited to fly to New York with the winning tickets. Pemberton and her daughter, another Impressions staff member will join them at their own expense. "I never feel like I'm going to work because I'm doing what I love. Matrix is a big part of it-the company really cares about our success," says Pemberton.
