Phoenix’s Kohler Academy continued fulfilling their mission of “Helping People Become a Better Version of Themselves” as it saw another graduating class on August 23rd. Sr. Vice President and General Manager over Joico/ISO, Sara Jones was honored to be invited to speak to the class of 30 graduates, the academy’s largest class since they opened 5 years ago. Founder Jill Kohler was thrilled to have Jones as the keynote speaker and knew she would be a wonderful example, of what many who go through academy, can aspire to.

Jones spoke of her professional history and her road to get to where she is now, Said Jones, “With only a cosmetology license and a lot of hard work I am now running a major beauty company.” Jones went on to inspire the students further and spoke about the variety of opportunities that the beauty industry has to offer. A motivational message that included some points she hopes the students will remember and take with them throughout their careers: 1) If you believe it, you can achieve it. 2) Work hard and be willing to sacrifice in order to find success. 3) Whenever you can, give back to your industry and community. You will be greatly rewarded for good deeds.

The last message being particularly resonant as Jones was recently named as the 2011 Spirit of Life Honoree for her accomplishments, devotion and care to the breast cancer and her dedication to the Beauty Industry’s support of City of Hope, a cancer research organization and cause Jones has made sure to remember in her current role.

Kohler Academy The 14,000 square foot Kohler Academy accommodates 125 students per session with a faculty of 12 and a total staff of 24. The school offers programs in hair and skin therapy, with an emphasis on real-world skills and business acumen in order to produce marketable beauty industry professionals. “Kohler Academy and Joico are both interested in shaping the hearts and minds of hairdressers,” comments Kohler, “and I feel they will be ever present with us as we work toward that goal.”
