ON... A Brilliant Way to Live & Work
Are you lacking true passion for your craft? I you are, it’s time to get a 20/20 view of how you really impact your clients, business and community-at-large.
“ON...A Brilliant Way to Live & Work - penned by industry leaders Dr. Lewis Loconcy (Dr. Lew) motivational psychologist, and Colin Walsh, Vice President and General Manager of Matrix USA - is a spellbinding read about how your life can be fi lled with quality, purpose and brightness. It’s written for people from all walks of life, trades and professions, but the message it imparts for beauty professionals promises to immediately transform you from being switched “OFF” to “ON,” simply by viewing your career as something important, impactful and...yes...joyous.
What would your salon be like if everyone on your team was turned ON? “You wouldn’t be showing up for work thinking, ‘Gawd, I’m tired. I hope my 4:00 cancels,’” says Dr. Lew. “You would enter your salon with purpose and make plans about how you’re going to make that day a fantastic one for yourself and everyone around you. It’s a contagious attitude that automatically spreads to your teammates, clients and community. It makes you a magnet for good things to happen and puts you on a collision course with success and personal gratifi cation.”
ON delves into the psyche of winning attitudes; challenges the all-too-common bottom-line preoccupation by businesses; and the blessing of renewable energy resources found within ourselves to ensure that there’s always light in our lives. It shares how you can have a greater belief in yourself and ways to let others know that you believe in them too. And ultimately, how a simple yet powerful attitude adjustment can transform not only you and your salon, but also your community and the world.

About the Authors
Dr. Lewis Losoncy is a motivational psychologist and author of 25 books on the topics of encouragement, positive attitude and teamwork. Known as the “Doctor of Encouragement,” he became deeply involved in the professional beauty industry many years ago after he gave some serious advice to one of his patients. “The next week, when I asked her if she had followed my advice, she told me, ‘No. I discussed it with my stylist and she didn’t think it was a good idea.’ Right then and there, I knew that I had to become involved with such an infl uential industry.”
Colin Walsh is the Vice President and General Manager of Matrix USA, a division of L’Ore'al. Walsh has been described as an industry “game changer.” As a passionate speaker on the topics of inspiration and leadership, Walsh shares his perspective on working with a purpose. “When ON, we give ourselves an immediate raise,” he notes. “We’ve found our higher purpose that makes our part of the world a little bit better for others and ourselves. Being motivated to make money is one thing; being inspired about what we can really achieve through our work brings focus to the greater good that each of us can do every day.”
