Swiping for Charity
Acting as a test salon for Greenwise Bankcard, Peter Mark Salon—a boutique-size business in Delray, Florida—has raised $500 in four weeks for the Make-A-Wish Foundation (Florida chapter) without rallying the troops for a cut-a-thon, gala or even an in-house charity campaign.
"We're fortunate to have a client, Bobby DiMattina, who has developed a new credit processing solution that allows clients the option to donate $1 or more to our local Make-A-Wish Foundation," explains co-owner Mark Hasche. "All funds generated by this feature are automatically deposited into the charity's account on a daily basis, which relieves us of the responsibility of managing the money."
In a recent interview with DiMattina, developer and founder of Greenwise Bankcard, HOT learned even more interesting details about this new service. "I sold my first card processing company three years ago. When developing the technical side of our new company, I wanted to ensure that it included a philanthropic aspect that was both prolific in terms of charitable donations and easy to accomplish for the end user—the client.
To date, we have several regional and national charities that salons can choose to sponsor—American Heart Association, National Wildlife Foundation, Kids in Distress, to name just three - with many more being added in the next 60 days." Equally attractive, salons can opt to sponsor a different charity each month.
"We feel so blessed that it's only natural that we want to give back whenever and wherever we can," adds Hasche. "For our new Greenwise Bankcard donation plan—which we've used for the past three months—we've found that it's an effortless way to give back, and allows clients to feed their karma and do something great for others at the same time."
